Mike Meister has been busy. He has spent time in Colorado, Michigan and Alabama. In that time, he was filming until the snow put an end to any chance of getting out and riding street. Mike put together this quick but rad new edit for The Union with what he had for clips between him and Jeff Brown. Definitely always psyched to check out some fresh footage of Mike, so give it a look!
Go to The Union for more videos.
Tom Villarreal and Trent McDaniel hammered out some good stuff in only two sessions. With a little assistance from Florida locals Trent put together a solid edit for Ride.
Deco.’s Kelsy Hoog, Jake Howard, Zack Allen, and Sean Hanni took a week long trip down to Austin to ride, film, and party. It was a great week and I can’t wait to go back! Also big thanks to Tom Cardiff, Grady, Sean, Joe Rich, Logan, all the dudes at Eastside Trails, Empire BMX, Pusher BMX, Lampasas County, and anyone else I might have forgot!
Congrats to DAVID JACOBSON for winning a Succubus frame for entering the Flatland Fuel holiday give away. Its cold in PA but hopefully this will make your Birthday sweet.
HIT UP this link to enter the Posse up Flatland video contest.
“What the Posse Up Video Contest is about is representing your crew, your scene, your city, your posse. Flatland BMX is already individual enough, and not enough effort is put into representing and portraying BMX as something beyond just riding a parking lot or a curb by yourself. We aren’t all loners, and it’s time to prove it. As bmxers, we live to ride, party, and get wild with their friends. Our goal here is to push the scenes and crews to unite around the world and show each other what they are truly about. Who’s posse is the biggest, the baddest, the sickest, or the craziest? It’s time to find out.” -Shayne
Scott W. Ehlert wants everyone to watch this video below mainly cause of the man pulling a car with his penis.

Send us some funny or cool pics and you to could be on the next one for 2012.
When asked to set up the Mat Hoffman show, I said “Hell yes”. Only weird thing is starring in the show one year and being the janitor now. I really don’t care, it was fun, insanely interesting setting up the globe of death, and a challenge with Mat’s big ass vert ramp. We did have the chance to take some breaks and hit up the roller coasters. If your in the Orlando area go check out the show…so good.
Valleyside is going big with ads in a few publications, thanks guys. Lets get Deco. in the UK.
Mat Olson does some pretty wild flairs. He even threw a turndown version at the Kona comp. Here is a phone pic and the skatepark. Stuntman style.
Chad was asked a few questions for the TBR site. Don’t know what that is, more reason to click below and check it out.

Tom Villarreal has been busy working, riding, and getting ready to show off his new section in Props Owned. This is what he had to say:
Been working 6 days a week 8 to 10 hour shifts trying to stack the money up as much as possible before i make the move to la at the end of december. Its life shit ain’t easy you have to work to catch that peanut. I was siked on the whole video. Everyone killed it in their own way. Buy it… you wont be let down! The mixture of everyones unique and dialed riding made it amazing. I’d say everyone owned it and everyone should own one. Buy that pup its worth it! On the real though i got owned for sure. Filming is serious i took my worst fall yet filming for the vid. But you have to take slams to get back up and keep going thats life shit ain’t easy you must work hard to catch that peanut.
One of my best friends lives out in LA and offered me a place to stay. Of course i took the opportunity do i look like a damn fool haha. I know they get down out there thats my style we will try and handle each other it will be fast paced which is good im trying to keep on my toes!

Mat Olson has been doing non-stop school shows, upping his trick list, and traveling in the south. This is what he had to say:
I am pumped on traveling and doing school shows these days. I have been all over the country and been to places I would have never seen otherwise. Riding everyday a few times a day can get a little rough, but I have to admit it keeps me on point with my riding. I have learned a ton of tricks and I have linked a bunch of them together. The kids are usually really good and most of the time we get to do the shows inside if the weather is too bad. I wish we had more time in between shows and travel, because there is always something I want to stop and shoot or film. You would be surprised what you run across that is ridable in the random cities that we do school shows in. I am grateful to be riding my bike to pay my bills right now. I am excited to have a bit of a break over the summer so I can just travel and do a ton of filming and riding. Although I have been in the middle of nowhere all throughout the Midwest! Not too much riding there.
This is in the NEW Ride US mag, doing it for Profile Racing. Remember they are distributing Deco. goods, so holla at them and get what is good. They are even offering a Madera/Deco Complete bike. Profile New England Pt. 1, SPOT Roast, TV and Owned, Bacon…and more.
Another long post. Were going to one a week now and it takes a whole week to read and go through it. Take it for Deco. So to start we have the Pt. 1 Profile New England trip. Not sure why you can’t embed part 2, but that is the come up doing their thing. Then we have some video as promo for the SPOT roast. Be there and get roasted. Tom Villareal has wrapped up his part in Props Owned, heard he went ape shit crazy. There are some things happening in Florida, so hit up those flyers and come on out to the events going down. Then we are trying to make the bacon tee, what do you think? And lastly the newest Deco. tattoo. One more thing, were stupid so were selling grips for $0.01 on our online store.
Skatepark of Tampa is putting on a BMX contest on Saturday, October 29, 2011. Here is some information on SPoT, the contest and Tampa. Mixed in are some good clips of a small portion of the locals in the area. Its going to be an awesome time! Check tbrbmx.blogspot.com for all the updates.
This web edit documents the first half of our New England Summer tour. What you will not see are the many cups of coffee/sweet tea consumed on the road. Nor the hours spent desperately searching for a hotel vacancy. And definitely not the daily criss-crossing through four states. You will, however, find some highlights of our travels through the lens of Tony Malouf. Thanks to the crew for coming together for a week. Thanks to mother nature for keeping the weather pristine. And special thanks to the shops and many locals who shared some really good sessions with us. Part two coming in a minute…enjoy.
Filmed and Edited by: Tony Malouf
Tom Villarreal has wrapped up filming his part in Props new series OWNED. From what I am hearing he made Stew and a few people a little nervous with some of his enders for his part. Nickels, Profile New England part #1, one day with Tom Villarreal, and Boulder Park Mix

Tom Villarreal has been staying local, but Dan filmed “Team Chocolate Chip’s day in the life of Tom Villarreal.” “It rained and we got a late start but here ya go.”
And lastly Mat Olson and crew killing the Boulder park, stomping a mud hole in its ass. Figure that one out…
NEW Deco. Tee, peep it HERE.
“The Boulder skatepark is widely regarded as one of the best parks in Colorado. Throw in a few amazing riders like Matt Cordova, Justin Brunner, Jake Farley, and Mat Olson and you have a recipe for a pretty rad session.” -Dylan Pfohl
The Best and worst, FLEER trading card situation, and Oprah tee is out
This post has a lot going on, starting with why Baco 11 is taking so long. Then it goes right into two videos Chad has good reason to post again. The whole FLEER trading card reasoning. Lastly the long awaited Oprah tee which is going to limited cause Oprah’s staff found out about this already and is putting it to rest. So get them HERE while they last.
This is a little interview about why Baco 11 has been taking so long.
Boo-“So what is up with Baco 11 and why isn’t it done yet?”
Chad- “That isn’t the easiest thing to answer. Dave and I are both sitting on a ton of footage, but I used mine in the second edit below. I felt like it was taking to long and some of that footage I spent a lot of time filming. Its shitty cause most of it is tri-pod, but I feel its really hard to have someone sit there for hours while I try what I think could work.” “My idea was to do a box set but there is more than a few factors keeping that from happening.”
Boo- “So what your saying is you want to push Deco more than keep your old flame, Baco, alive and put the Deco title on your edit instead of Baco?”
Chad- “Ya, Baco can suck it. No, I want them both to do well, but Baco is really a name now that we can use for anything specially a contest or jam. We are still going to do the Baco halloween jam, just not this year. The great thing about Baco is we can do it anywhere. We love the time of the year for the Halloween thing as you know. Dressing up shitty and going buck nutty is what Baco is about. Once Mesh closed it was hard to calm down about the Baco jam. Shit, the last one we did at Mesh was pretty shitty, mainly cause I had to choke up, suck it up, and announce we were closing the doors. That was one of the hardest things to do aside from telling my dad I really am straight.”
Boo- “Is your dad straight?”
Chad- “I have no doubt he is straight, shit, he is more than straight. Is that possible? I put him through so much shit its unreal. From breaking my back and him taking care of me to all my friends telling him I am gay. With me being a parent now it makes me realize those funny things as a kid really make your parents think. Not in a good way. They always thought I was crazy on a bike, but always supported me.
Boo- “So tell us about the video parts below and what they mean.”
Chad- “The first one is one that will live on for a long time. My part in Baco 10. Great song, good times from Mission Skatepark to car crashing to fighting in the ring. That is how I want Baco 11 to be, but living up to it is different now. I had to really focus this year on a lot of things and it hasn’t given me the chance to travel and get buck nutty. This section was the my last one of DVD as well. The internet has slowed down the video premier and sped up the web edit. I fell into this pattern and got itchy so I released my footage for Baco on a web edit and ended with www.DecoBMX.com. Call it how you like, but I feel some of the clips in that edit have a lot of meaning with Mesh being closed and so many good memories.”
Boo- “Why did Mesh really close down?”
Chad- “That is a long story and can and will be in more detail in my book coming out next year. In a nut shell, there were 3 partners total. We all had our duties but didn’t really look over each others till the last year. So it started to slip… and to try and come back from a sure disaster would be impossible. One partner left and the other I bought out. So the last whole year I decided to try and make it work while pulling out my hair and watch it slowly go gray. This story could go on, but it bums me out a bit, so”…………………..to be continued
Boo-“Your a fag, get to the good shit.”
Chad-“No. Check out the vids below and tell me you don’t want to see Baco 11?”
FLEER approached a select few to do trading cards back in 1999. So we went to work sending in pics and a short bio for the back. Somehow they received this joke pic of me doing a side levitator with a Snoopy shirt on in Bud’s Barn at Woodward. They produced them and sent them all to me to sign and send back. Well I complained and never sent them back, just a new photo. They agreed to remake them. I still have a ton of these but they are really rare since they were never in circulation.
This is the back. Funny face fool. I had to come up with a nickname for myself so I used “Stretch”. It was retarded but I told them I liked to stretch a lot. Stupid shit…
This is the official FLEER card that went into circulation and even sold in 7-11′s and everwhere. I was real happy with this pic for a few reasons, it was shot by Freimuth at the ever-so-famous skatepark KONA. It took me awhile to get this cause a wall tap on a round pole and out of a deep as shit bowl wasn’t my cup of tea, but it was that day.
Here is the back, they changed my profile pic for some reason and you can’t see my face. I was over it at this time and told them it was perfect. It is perfect right?
Here she is, the most powerful woman in the world sucking on a Deco. logo. Get one before she sends a laser beam down on the Deco headquarters and makes us all suck her minge.
New pics and Springer
Mat Olson is living it up doing school shows for awhile. Most people don’t think living it up is doing weird shows for bratty school kids, but if you are getting a few bucks, traveling, and riding your bike for people, I really don’t think that is to bad. So if you know Mat and crew are coming to your school, scream “do a backflip” the whole time they are performing. They really like that shit.
The pics below are all of Mat sessioning the Casselberry trails and around Orlando. It was a must to bring him to the Maitland trannies and witness him doing the highest airs and even more than a few flairs on the steep trannies. Hit this LINK to see the video.
ESPN recently did a story on “the various ways that other BMXers have made the jump from riding into television. Starting with Chad Degroot’s appearance on The Jerry Springer show and ending with Strangers in Danger, this is a small sampling of BMXers turned TV personalities. Enjoy.” HERE is the tab and launch the gallery to see the 1st pic of guess who?Mat Olson doing the flair almost like in a cement half pipe care of photo shop.
Here is the real version, still crazy if you have ever been there.
Super Whip on his favorite set. Casselberry trails season is almost upon us.
Mat calls this one the “Tree Frog”. Your gonna have to ask him why. Its pretty unreal to do a tuck nothing…shit man.
Almost RIP Vans Skatepark in Orlando. Its still around for now and I suggest you get as many sessions here as possible. Mat doing a tuck on the mini in the back.
SPOT Roast, Rickey, Deco. All Day
Its real hard to write words for someone who passed away. Glad to have known you, ridden with you, and supported you through Mesh skatepark and MR. B’s. RIP Rickey…and sorry for calling you “turd dick”. I am pretty sure you didn’t give a shit, but maybe we shouldn’t have taken an ad out for that. Either way, you didn’t give a shit. Respect for that…-Chad D
-Hit up the SPOT Roast in Tampa coming up next month. Deco. will be out there showing our shit off and maybe rolling around for a minute. See ya there.
-The Two By Four/Deco. grassroots riders Eugene and Zach threw this edit together with a pretty funny intro. Thanks guys. Holla anytime.

Interbike 2011
Interbike usually is a blur from no sleep, tons of alcohol, and just plain on-the-go format. This year I decided to show up late and leave early which proved to be the way to go. Rumors were flying about this year being really small and a lot of companies backing out. Truthfully it was still pretty big but YES a few big boys were not in attendance. Otherwise it was amazing, non stop laughing, drinking, and a little bit of bmx made it one of the best so far. -Chad D
Here are a few pics and some videos from Interbike 2011

Animal and Demolition did it right, private showing in a suite in the Venetian with beer and sandwiches. Good sandwiches to. Thanks guys. This guy below was in Chipotle eating up a storm, mustache and all.
Mustaches seem to cover 90% of bmx and 95% of kids ages 13-17. Leigh was just showing you whats up. James decided to take a ride on the display motorcycle in the Hard Rock. Hair farmer.
Staying with Brumlow is always interesting, I woke up one morning and Dave wasn’t in the room, then a picture mail came to my phone with this guy. Strike a pose.
Thanks to PowerBar for the last two years…great company and amazing products.
Craps was my game of choice. Threw the dice off the table more than a few times. Catfish sighting. I told him I was gonna give him a Nora cup but he never responds so I guess I will wait.
Ever heard of Pawn Stars? We were waiting in line to go see that shop and some lady gave me this Strider, so I tried to pawn it.
Check out the M&M family outside of the pawn shop.
A trip to Vegas wouldn’t be complete without an Elvis sighting. So Brumlow pushed their buttons and was in every photo. They asked “Who the hell are you” Dave responded “Elvis”.
They had enough just after this photo, and I couldn’t take anymore cause I was crying.
Pusher Crew looking blazed out. No eyes open here.
Pusher room at the Palms, only 37 floors up. Get it Clay…
The awards. I sat next to Scott Powell, so many good quotes I can’t print. Just wait for 2012, Scott Powell come back.
Below are some Videos from interbike and the last one is funny cause I am a dork at the end.

Profile Racing NOW distributing Deco. in the US…YA BUDDY
Deco. BMX and Profile Racing would like to announce the new US Distribution of Deco. products through Profile headquarters in Saint Petersburg, Florida. Below are a few questions between Chad DeGroot (owner of Deco. BMX) and Matt Coplon (TM and head sales) about the Distribution situation.
Profile has been making some moves the last few years, now with Deco. being distributed by Profile Racing, how do you feel about this?
It’s been ten years now since I came on board to manage Profile Distribution. We have never been in a position where we seek out product to distribute—we actually started the distro here b/c most of our Domestic and International distributors cannot stock all the variations (odds and ends) of the bike products that we manufacture. Through those years, we’ve picked up a very limited number of brands (Country Bikes and Sun Rims) to compliment what we carry here in the shop. For the most part, those brands are close to us on a personal level…picking up Deco falls into the same category. DeGroot has been riding for Profile now for four years…it’s been a strong relationship and anything that Chad does we would like to be in a position to help support him. He’s family, and Deco is quality Product that we both ride and feel confident in pushing.
You mentioned offering some completes, Profile parts and Deco. rounding it off, this leads into some real high end bikes. Is this more for promo or will these be for sale?
Like we currently offer with Country/Profile, we plan on doing the same with Deco through our Online store. Basically, a higher end Profile complete featuring a Deco frame, fork, bars, grips, and pedals.
There are two very different companies uniting to scratch each others backs, is this a Florida thing?
Less Florida, more family! You’re still a yankee until you reach that 20 year residency mark…that’s coming up, right?

Mat Olson Roof Gap
Mat Olson told me about this, then went and handled it properly. Such a huge gap and seems to float in the air forever…
Pretty sure he did it then wanted to film it better. So I guess it was kind of a session. Look close at those drains, little to the left and he is done for. So I can agree with him being excited when he says “I’m Not Dead”.
The Fine Print

Thought you were cool listening to Judas Priest for all those years, then you find out they were banging each other. What do you think now? Funny thing is they wore shirts made of hair. Why look uncomfortable wearing hair when you can be relaxed wearing a True American Apparel shirt? Will these shirts releave you of your sins? No one knows, but its worth a try…We got away from the computer generated style and went back to the way it was done in the cave man days…by hand, backhand…CLICK
In the olden days, people were hired to hold a cover over ones head. These days, hats are all hands free. Still a great idea having a partner managing what falls on your head, but a little silly don’t you think? Whether your balding, graying, or haven’t decided what hair style fits you. These hats will let you think of more important things, like enhancing your mustache. CLICK

Beautifully made for your hands, to grab or not grab them? That is the question. If someone told you these grips were deeply textured, soft and consoling. Would you have any more questions? Either way you owe it to yourself and whoever steals your bike, true relaxation of the hands. CLICK
It was a game I have always played. Why pretend it’s impossible. Call them Forks, call them necessary on your bike?…Inspired with front brakes in mind, these steep 28mm rake FuForks come with with removable 990 tabs. SpaceBar
Longtime friend Mike Altz decided to throw a photo show with featured artist like Ron Bonner, Ryan Sher, Chipp Riggs, and numerous other local talents in SpaceBar which during the week is called Covert skate shop. Deal was these pics had to be taken by a cell phone and editing done solely in the cell phone. Great turn out, amazing pics, and finally got out of the house to chill with local homies in the Milk district near downtown Orlando. Happened on the Fix gear crew that was at the Red Bull Mini Drome as well. Guess PBR does a pub crawl every month, $1 tall boys at each stop. Who hates that? I have to get on that and I suggest you get on your bike and come out and meet us for the next one. Also, the SpaceBar photo gallery is going to happen 4 times a year. So get on that tip. Thanks to Tommy Mott, Mike Altz, and the crew of photographers to make it all happen. Good times as you can see from the pics below. It starts with the photo gallery, leads into the night, then ends with all my pics I submitted. Chickty check it son… -Chad

The Beard
My Wife received a Kindle for xmas and has a hard time putting it down. Since then I have read a few books on my version, the iPhone. Pretty amazing everything is on a little phone, pretty much everything except wet wipes. So she tells me that she got me a book on Kindle, which my phone has an app for that, and I read the intro.. why wouldn’t I sit back and put some time into reading this book? Here is what lured me in, not sure who this writer is, and I am not done with the book yet, but I am pretty sure this description would excite anyone. -Chad D
Seven-year-old David Glum watches as his grandfather is abducted by a legendary herd of elephants. Twenty years later, after failing to sell his novel to a New York publisher, David returns to his parents’ home to focus on growing a beard, a goal he feels sure he can accomplish. Once the beard reaches a respectable girth, uncontrollable things begin happening around him. His mother dies… maybe. His father might really be a man named Gary Wrench. David is sure of only one thing: his family is cursed. It could have something to do with an eternal flame his grandfather stole from a possibly imaginary group of people called the Nefarions. David and Wrench begin a surreal cross-country journey that might have something to do with saving the world. Along the way they pass through a number of absurd towns, meet some disagreeable people, and discover an America that is radically different from the one they thought they knew, a place where nothing can be accepted for what it seems to be. And all the while, the beard grows, gaining strength, leading them toward a distant island that most people think doesn’t exist…

Make a list and check it off
Back in the day riders had fun and made fun of other riders, Chad took it to a props commercial for baco designs and did a check list of riders and did their tricks, top that
Fast Forward and Mike Meister makes his own list. I love this shit…
Thanks for the laugh. And anyone who is reading this, please make a list of your own and send me the edit. -Chad D

Lil interview with Chad DeGroot
Chad DeGroot about Deco
So, I have been on a lil kids bike for nearly 15years now, grew up in the Florida scene, spent my summers and fathers money at Mission [Skate Park]. I have always looked to certain riders in videos. I have also just looked up to people in this industry in general, I have ate, bled and breathed BMX since the mid 90’s. One rider I have always looked up to is Chad [Degroot], he has this mad smooth flat style and a park style I could only dream of selling at a large retail venue by the bucket.
So, over the years a lot of new rider-owned companies have been popping up. some stick, some flop. Some are still infants, some own the industry. Mr. Chad DeGroot took some time from his never ending circle of fun to answer a hand full of questions for me. He is the owner/operator of DECO BMX and a Bike shop (Mr.B’s Bikes N Boards) in the Longwood FL Area. These are the thoughts from his never ending circulation of knowledge.
Q – So, you’ve been a rider for a couple Decades, what pushed you to start Deco?
CHAD – Just seeing how bad some people run companies, namely UGP, and knowing they have potential but never really get it. While working at that company I saw how Taiwan worked, how to ship boxes, do invoicing, maintain stock levels, and stay true to the original idea or plan on why and how a company should go in the direction they do. My vision was pretty easy, work for myself and build it from scratch with no partners and use my sense of humor and the respect people have of me to make a company that looks like how I want it to be scene. Bascially I don´t know much except bmx and I want to stay in the industry cause it has given me what I have today. I have so much pride invested in this company its insane.
Q – You have a full line up of frames, fork and components, do you do all the design work or do you have a lil gremlin doing it for you?
CHAD – The first designs were done in my living room with my wife real drunk a few nights. She is in school and does some CAD work. So we pounded a few drinks and I told her what I wanted and it actually worked out, it’s insane. Some items are existing, I didn´t invent the pivotal seatpost, just put the Deco. logo on them. Its really tough and costly to do your own molds and from-scratch items, but we did suck it up and did a grip that I am more than happy with. Mold charges can suck off, but if you want to make a statement you have to start from scratch. Right now I am running, shipping, doing designs, the website, web store, and everything in between myself. I´m not against employees but right now I can do it all. Once that changes I am fearful of the other change that will happen.
Q – Seems as if you are doing a lot at once, DeCo. And Mr.B’s. I am amazed you aren’t TOTALLY gray at the moment, using any good hair care products we should know about? Maybe some beard input while you’re at it.
CHAD – I keep the beard and hair trim so all the grays don´t finally take over. That transition was real tough to accept, growing old and looking it with the grays. But in the end, if I went bald I wouldn´t get new hair, if I´m all gray, it is what it is…and yes my plate is full of work, but I got into this mess and I am going to get out some day.
Q – Do you have an actual factory team right now or, is it all just flow? Any local riders after you for free shit?
CHAD – That is a real hard term I was faced with, so this answer might or might not make sense. Team is a work I really don´t like. I hook people up that are my riders and represent Deco. and I hook up my friends. There are two main riders that I try to help out in everyway I can which are Tom Villarreal and Mat Olson. The list is pretty big if l listed the people I hook up, but in a sense were a family if anything, just supporting each other and trying to ride bikes when bikes are expensive and the bmx industry is trying to self destruct on itself. As for local riders, hell yes. I give shit to Rob Nolli, Jimmy Walker, Dave Brumlow, Bob Walters, Kip Williamson, and there is a bunch of people that get real nice deals. Full Factory is a term I grew up with, its an amazing term, but doesn´t really apply to Deco.
Q – You have a very unique riding style, do you think it has flooded into your business life also?
CHAD – I would think so. Woops, first off Thanks. I sometimes get into answers before taking compliments, so thanks if thats a compliment. Business life is crazy, in a sense yes I do incorporate it in cause I try to see the customers view as well not just be a dude selling shit at a bike shop. With Deco. I can´t help but swear on the phone and tell it how it is, our parts are amazing and I back them 100%. My pride goes into the business as well, I can´t help it, its all awesome and I appreciate everything I am learning to make my business and my life better. Hopefully my style of business reflects my riding style and vice versa.
Q – Most rider-owned companies are named after the owner…. why did you go the other direction and what is with “succubus?”
CHAD – It is named after me or at least my last name. “DE” is short for DeGroot and “CO.” is short for company, so Deco. is DeGroot Company. So now you look like a fool asking that silly question, you owe me a beer, one of those tall ones. Succubus is an amazing term, every since I heard it I was truelly amazed by it. The Definition of Succubus is: A female demon appearing in dreams who takes the form of a human woman in order to seduce men, usually through sexual intercourse. Religious traditions hold that repeated intercourse with a succubus may result in the deterioration of health or even death. So there you have it, how can you not like having sex in your dreams? and for the religious part, I don´t believe in that part, sex is good awake or asleep. In the end I was trying to get a picture painted in your head but also state that there is a bmx Succubus which will give you bmx dreams and suck the bmx right out of you.
Q – What do you think you can do differently with DECO than the other companies in the industry?
CHAD – What can I do? Just do it the way I think it should be done. If you spend to much time thinking and doing what everyone else is doing you will have a midlife crisis and it will show. BMX is small and there are a handfull of companies doing their own thing, in the end I really want to do and make stuff that people will talk about. Just trying to put my stamp on this generation and the next. Plant some roots and make them grow.
Q – You have a big local following in Florida, do you think that´ll have an affect on the product and testing?
CHAD – Testing is a funny term. We do have a following here because its in your face. Look at Standard back in the day, it was out of Iowa but those surrounding states all supported it. They took over the whole midwest. Were still small but like any disease were spreading pretty fast and hopefully making a mark in the Florida area. Back to testing, I have tested a few things here and there, Mat Olson has as well. But most of the stuff we produce is welded and manufactured by the same company as most of bmx use in Taiwan. I went over there and saw how many brands, legit brands, that they produce all under the same roof. Its crazy yet reassuring that they know what they are doing. Were not doing cast stuff or making shit light as hell so we are pretty straight to the point, not the lightest, but great quality and craftsmanship. We have only had a few items that have had flaws, but in the end if you jump off a two story building to flat or eject off the mega ramp something will happen. We did fix everything as much as we could. We need to go back to the early days of bmx and dress dudes up in one piece suits and really test the shit, that was funny and they didn´t give a shit, they really sent themselves. Maybe someone could start a company where you send them the parts and some crazy dudes test the shit in everyway. Start your own business, there, you have the idea.
Q – Anyone you want to thank?
CHAD – You, my wife and kids, my Succubus for those long nights, Matt Coplon and Profile, Powerbar, Mat Olson, Tom Villarreal, James Covington, My dad, Mom, brothers, Deco. supporters, Crash at Knucklenap.com, Kip Williamson, Bob Walters, Brien Kielb, Locals, Fran Meli at City of Longwood, QBP crew, all my dealers, all my distributors, JAPAN for keeping it real, Povah and Etnies, Pam and Red Bull, the grassroots crews from Two By Four and Pusher BMX, Duncan Gore, Sab, Daryl Nau, Catfish, Dave Freimuth, Dave Brumlow, Hey Man, my iPhone, Trees, and strong and devoted people. I´m out. Peace….
After reading and formulating, I think Chad has this on lock. should be awesome to see what DeGroot Company has coming in the near future. I am off to the liquor store to grab some booze and put my foot in my mouth again. Special Thanks to Chad for taking the time out of his never ending schedule to answer this and spend some time showing off the line of goodies he has.
If you would like to get your paws on any of these goodies, you can go to www.decobmx.com and order right from the warehouse, skip the middle man!
